Gomul-stifla

Gomul-stifla (Runic: ᚴᚬᛘᚢᛚᛋᛏᛁᚠᛚᛅ) was a dam in northern Vangrinn, Svartálfaheimr. During the Muspel invasion of Svartalfheim, jötnar warriors set up a base at the bottom of the dam as they guarded a portal to Ginnungagap.
History[edit | edit source]
In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord Havi traveled to the dam after he learned from a jötunn warrior who ambushed him at Gapihus that his leader Malvigr was meeting her dwarven co-conspirators Brammer and Lom there. Upon his arrival, he saw both traitors dead while Malvigr appeared behind him. Malvigr proposed an alliance against the Muspels' warlord Surtr as she wanted to fight Surtr rather than to lose her hugr to the Salakar Havi held.[1]
However, Havi remained adamant to using the Salakar as a bargaining chip for his captive son Baldr. Thus, both Malvigr and Havi fought each other. In the end of their fight, Havi bested Malvigr, who stated she did not deserve this death. Havi agreed but still used the Salakar to steal her hugr anyway.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Depending on either dam in Svartalfheim, Havi may have chosen to enter the portal at Gomul-stifla after obtaining all of the pieces of armor of the Jotun Armor Set.[2]
