Canadian Security Intelligence Service
The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is the foreign intelligence service of the Canadian federal government.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
On 20 November 2013, following reports in New York City, New York of a "Houdini Heist" where more than $10 million USD suddenly disappeared from hundreds of civilians' bank accounts, the case was escalated from local police jurisdiction to the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation.[2] Nine days later, after Abstergo Entertainment disclosed to authorities its recent digital systems and customer records disruptions could be related to the case, CSIS collaborated with the FBI to arrest 15 individuals from the Erudito hacktivist group in Toronto, Ontario for their connections to the robbery that had impacted eight different countries.[3]
