Do they see it in 1st or 3rd person? Do they see it like player? Do they see cutscenes and do they lose control during them?

Why does rebecca in manual reffer to controls? And some tutorials mention them. Even if you consider those non-cannon, I think it was mentioned outside those as well, wasn't it?
