Galarnos was a Greek art merchant who lived during the 5th century BCE.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Galarnos was employed by an elderly Lesbian man living in the village of Eresos. During the Peloponnesian War, the latest commission required Galarnos to travel to Makedonia in order to purchase a shipment of rare art pieces.[1]

While Galarnos' ship was making its way to Lesbos, it was surprised by a storm, which derailed it and shipwrecked it on Stormfall Bay on Lesbos' western shore. Though some of the crew survived in addition to Galarnos, Followers of Ares dwelling within the nearby cave overwhelmed them and slew some while taking others as prisoners. Taken by them, Galarnos was dragged into the depths of their cave.[1]

Though afraid for his life, Galarnos' wish for freedom was granted as his employer had enlisted the help of the Spartan misthios Kassandra to find out what had happened to him. After investigating the shipwreck, Kassandra tracked Galarnos to the cave and defeated the Followers of Ares, and freed Galarnos, who returned to Eresos to the joy of his employer.[1]
