Korkut (c. 1469 – 13 March 1513), born Korkut bin Bayezid, was the third son of the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II, the elder brother of Bayezid's successor Selim, and the younger brother of Ahmet.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1511, Korkut was captured by Templar thugs in Bursa, but was rescued by a team of Ottoman Assassins sent from Constantinople by the Mentor Ezio Auditore da Firenze.[1]

Sometime later, he called together a meeting with the Mamluk Sultan Al-Ashraf Qansuh al-Ghawri, though this also caught the attention of the Ottoman Assassins, who investigated the assembly on the orders of Ezio.[2]

Among the sons of Bayezid II, Korkut was popularly regarded as the least competent and had little prospect of succeeding his father,[1] leading to Selim's ascension.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Korkut is a historical figure and character mentioned in the Mediterranean Defense contracts in Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Historically, he was at one point captured by the Knights Hospitalier when the knights attacked his ship on his way back to Turkey from Egypt, though he ultimately managed to escape.

Despite failing to secure any support for the throne and readily surrendering his claim to Selim, Selim still thought the risk too great and had Korkut executed upon taking the throne.
