Faunus was a lanista who operated in an amphitheater in Tarraco, Hispania during the 1st century BCE.
Amongst the gladiators under him were the Gaul Albiorix and Thracian Tarbus. Around 47 BCE, a Roman lanista from Cyrene had one of his men contact Faunus for the list of gladiators under his possession.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The name Faunus in Latin possibly means 'to befriend'. It was also the name of a Roman god of fertility, forests and agriculture, corresponding to the Greek god Pan.
