Charles Messier (1730 – 1817) was a French astronomer who discovered the existence of the Whirlpool Galaxy.[1]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
In an Animus 2.0 database entry for the free-standing bell tower Campanile di Giotto in Florence, Italy, the Assassin historian Shaun Hastings theorized that the tower's 414 steps predicted Messier's 1773 discovery of the Whirlpool Galaxy 414 years after the building's completion in 1359, though he quickly retracted this statement.[2]
