Victoria, Princess Royal (Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa; 1840 – 1901) was the wife of the German Emperor Frederick III and as such was made German Empress and Queen of Prussia briefly in 1888 until Frederick III died just 99 days later. She was the eldest child of Queen Victoria and was heir until the birth of her younger brother, the future Edward VII.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
In a royal correspondence between Victoria's mother and her Belgian great-uncle Leopold I sent on 27 April 1865, the queen told Leopold that she had previously sent him a letter extract by her daughter "Vicky" regarding Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein, though the queen went on to voice her plan to set him up with Victoria's sister, Helena.[2]
