The Legislative Assembly was the legislature of France from 1 October 1791 to 20 September 1792 during the years of the French Revolution. It provided the focus of political debate and revolutionary law-making between the periods of the National Constituent Assembly and of the National Convention.

The Assembly was formed following Maximilien Robespierre's motion to bar members of the previous legislative body to hold a seat in its successor and during a military crisis in which France's neighbors had threatened invasion.

During its existence, the Assembly contained 745 members from all sides of the political spectrum, including 136 Jacobins. It passed a number of reforms in regards to divorce, immigration, and clergy. In 1792, due to escalating military tensions, the Assembly stripped Louis XVI of royal functions, backed further by the Insurrection of 10 August and the formation of the National Convention that created a new republic in which much of the Assembly retained power.
