I guess they wanted to give Ezio a new, fresh feel rather than using the outfits from ACII. I prefer this new outfit, I didn't like Altaïr's armour very much. I just wanted to have Ezio wear his standard outfit in ACII, but I had to either wear Altaïr's armour or different armour -_-. I couldn't stand the inability to unequip Ezio's armour.
