it usually depends how much work they put in to the remake as to wether its good or not. eg splinter cell hd, they put little to no effort in to it, they just made the old pc version work on the ps3, the HD visuals are far from HD. other remakes actually take the time to update visuals and some go so far as to completely rebuild the game in an updated engine, now that usually makes for a great updated game experience.
