I only recently got my PS3 (mind you, it broke within 6 months :/), but I'm glad I got it so cheap, I was content with not having one all those years, I get to constantly play new games (new to me) without the worry of running out of games to play, because I'm a good 4 years or so behind.

I wouldn't buy the PS4 right out the gate, way too expensive, and the slimmer versions usually have vast imrpovements, especially in things like Hard Drive space. I think I'll be content with my relatively new PS3 for a good 3-4 years, as long as they still release games on PS3.
