I can't help but agree with you there. Countering or finishing off enemies in AC1 with the Hidden Blade was somewhat hard but extremely satisfying. Though the AC Brotherhood fighting style is the one I still consider to be the best out of all of the AC games (including Altaïr's Chronicles) though you couldn't kick enemies knees in or stab them straight in the top of skull. I wish they brought the bone crunching and screams back. Please excuse me if I sound a bit sadistic right now.
