I think Kain may be right about the Ubi thinking on this. Liberation HD, Freedom Cry and probably Watchdogs (which they think will be the same target market) are enough to keep the crowd happy. Their publicists thnk. A teaser would be enough to satisfy the curiosity of fans and potentially build some more. That said the AC twitterpage is building up momentum again with interviews and multiplayer discussions maybe trying to wind up to an announcement or maybe fueling the fan engine just enough to keep it ticking over. 

This all said, I haven't seen a following around something like AC before. A yearly release (with intermitend sub releases) partnered with an intense, complicated story, I don't know how you're supposed to control a following like that, so I ain't complaining, just excited to know more as always!
