Well the guy on the ground is in a position you normally don't see in the game outside of the corridor cutscene. Meaning that if he is in that position, everything would become white and Assassin and him would have a little chat where the guy would give his monologue before dying. Its kind of the whole nonsensical aspect of the games where all logic is lost.
