Believe it or not, but I am not satisfied with what he said. I wasn't expecting a full explanation, but "the very existence of "Tyranny" should give you clue why" isn't even slightly helpful. I can only think of one connection: Desmond did not have a son, and Washington did not go crazy with the Apple.

I suppose they could be saying that Clay was just bat-shit crazy at the time of saying it and got things muddled up. Even then, it's possibly the worst retcon in a game that I have seen.
