If humanity is under total control, and everyone is acting as one body, then there couldn't possibly be a revolution or revolt. This is why they try to use Apples of Eden.

And do you really think that total freedom does not come with the possibility of chaos? Look at Edward Kenway. He is the perfect example of what the Templars think people with freedom will become. He was greedy, selfish, and had no problems with hurting other people if it could make him rich. Now imagine if every single person on Earth were like that. We'd all be dead and consumed by anarchy.

Yes, I know he used the Creed to better himself, but that's purely incidental.
