I always love seeing that process. Yes majority will skip it but I would just watch it. In some games you can watch while something is being made or trained and it is really entertaining. I spent quite a lot of time watching the Homestead residents to these extremely well animated tasks. Perhaps you can press skip or maybe leave the smithy and re-enter to get the items immediately. I don't like waiting Real time for something. The max amount of time I give any game to complete some task I have given it is 20 minutes. Anymore than that and I get pissed which is why I dislike RTS games. Its a game. I don't want to wait an extremely long time in the real world for something in-game. It should be a time-frame that is comfortable and I can go run around and explore or kill some people while waiting for the task to finish. The times in the AC games were good. In AC3 you could just run around for a bit while waiting for convoys when trading or something.
