That's bullshit -- everytime a major change happens, they blame it on the Animus. On the first AC, they told us Alta"ir couldn't swim because it was a mechanic they didn't had time to implement and because swimming would deviate too much from the ancestor syncronization -- Altaïr never swimmed during the hunt for the nine, so if Desmond did, the memory would break.

Now, they just blame it on the Animus -- instead of giving us the real reason and the made up, they just blame it on-universe XD
