I agree with the fellow anon: If the creators say so, then it IS canon. What else would be canon if not the output of those who created it? It's the same thing with J.K.Rowling's "Dumbledore". His sexuality was never mentioned in the books ... but you do know it because she said it. That's the truth about a character by its creator. No offense, buddy. :) The only thing fanon is the thing fans say. And I would also count the novels als fanon since, meh, I heard about the major contradictions in the books ...
