Here's how I see it: The Precursors tried to splice their sixth sense into the human genome, but it didnt work due to the genetic gap between the two races. A long time later, some Precursor got hot with a human, and their offspring had that gap almost completely closed. Because of this, they are able to make some use of the sixth sense, in the form of eagle vision
