Yeah, you're right. Ezio is missing the life he was robbed of--getting tons of women, enjoying parties and friends and etc. So in effect, he's starting to doubt if any of the things he does to combat the Templars is really worth doing. I guess seeing Altair in the past reinvigorates him and he keeps pushing to find the answers, which I'm guessing he does because Desmond is alive and the Templars haven't yet taken over the world. When I say Desmond doing some soul-searching, I mean fighting his inner demons and facing what he's done in the past. He might have to come to terms and accept that he was to be an Assassin no matter how much he tried to run because his purpose was to save the world. And by looking through his memories and his ancestors', he'll know what he has to do when he awakens from the Black Room and thus open the way for Assassin's Creed 3.
