I thought that book was a reference to Machiavelli's "Il Principe" - The Prince which was notoriously short considering some of his more extended work like the Discourses on Livy, hence when Machiavelli says he is going to write a book on him, Ezio says to keep it short - referring to The Prince - though how it is on Ezio I am not sure apart from the fact that it highlights Cesare Borgia and how one man may do anything in his power (Nothing is true - everything is permitted) to unite/free/rule all of the Italian penninsula.
