But I think the argument is what does AC add for Victorian London, not what Victorian London adds for AC.

Pirates added a lot for AC and i think it worked well, but really what did AC add for pirates? Not much in my opinion though I think they did it quite well. Crusades added loads for AC, but AC added a lot to crusades. With AC's diminishing focus on modern day and even the conspiracy theory stuff becoming sub-par recently, would these games be better being something else? A standard lope around the dark history of the French Revolution with two lovers finding themselves of opposite sides, would've quite possibily been better.
