In this regard, everyone detailed in this universe is a character in their own right and everyone in the series should be treated equally and based on their own merits, fictional or factual.

That's a very interesting and fresh perspective of looking at it I never would have thought of. I'm not sure I agree, but I do think it's quite profound.
