I recommend mentioning my previous suggestion of potentially making Discovery "canon, with some details off". However, I'd recommend only bringing it up if you don't manage to convince him to make it fully canon. Also, perhaps sending a link to this thread to give him an idea of our discussions on this topic might be a good way of convincing him.
