I brought up the inconsistency of the game's storyline with regards to Discovery to the brand team, and their advise is to treat Discovery as non-canon at this point. There wasn't any way for them to make a film in the Spanish Inquisition and not have it contradict that game, so it was overruled. I think to some extent we can use the same approach for Altaïr's Chronicles, if only for how weird that game is.
