Was there anything the team found that indicated gladatorial combat ever existed in Ptolemaic Egypt? Or is this where we just suspend our disbelief?

The game is set during the rise of the Roman Empire with the Roman civil wars that ended the Republic. The trailers seem to show that Roman influence is intruding on Egypt, but it's not impossible that perhaps the scene with gladiatorial combat is set in Rome itself during a mission I think, just like how previous games had select missions set outside the main area. Why am I answering these with my speculative thoughts? xD
