I think it's because the novels and comics don't have the same pressure as the games do to sell heaps and be a major commerical success. Which is kinda sad that the games have to prioritise meeting those expectations over expanding the series storyline. I was kinda hoping that with Chronicles they wouldn't release a new main series game this year but that was a bit naive in hindsight.
