Yusuf is called the Grand Master of the Ottoman Assassins in the Encyclopedia, as you can see in the Encyclopedia Making Of. And I rather go by an official source rather than interviews, since Ubisoft has proven their interviews aren't very reliable (such as Ezio being Altaïr's descendant... According to Patrice Desilets...).
