Revealed by one of Rodrigo Borgia's men through interrogation, the Templars were planning to assassinate a major political figure in Milan, their duke and also one of Lorenzo de Medici's powerful allies, Galeazzo Maria Sforza.

Revelation

Rodrigo Borgia and his men were leaving Florence on foot, under the night sky. As they move, so did Giovanni, who was quietly following them at the rooftops. Giovanni began his ambush by landing directly in front of them. This caused Rodrigo to retreat and leave his men behind to deal with Giovanni. Rodrigo's allies was easily dispatched by Giovanni, and one unfortunate man was taken away by the assassin to the home of his employer, Lorenzo de Medici for questioning.

Tortured with a rack by the Medici's men, the man cracked, and revealed their plans to Lorenzo and his men. They plan to assassinate the Duke of Milan, a powerful ally of the Medici, during the Feast of Santo Stefano. They will initiate their plan after the choir's echo becomes loud and the bell rings for the twelfth, and final, time.

Wasting no time, Lorenzo orders Giovanni to leave for Milan, to stop their attempt.

The Feast of Santo Stefano

The Duke makes his entrance to the church with many of his men with him. Watching from within the crowd, Giovanni plans his next move to get inside the church. He leaves the crowd & climbs the building next to the church. Jumping the gap between the two buildings, Giovanni moves in.

As Giovanni walks in, the Duke arrives at the altar and begins his prayer. Watching his surroundings, Giovanni sees a man signalling his allies. He knew these were the assassins.

The man whom Giovanni saw steps forward to kiss the ring of the Duke. Sforza was pleased, but the man held his hand tight, and quickly plunged his dagger to the Duke's stomach. One of his men behind him proceeds to do more damage and stab the Duke's back, as the others prepare to attack the Duke's bodyguards.

Giovanni rushes forward to intercept the assassins. Although he managed to take down some of them, it was clear that he was too late, as the Duke's lifeless body lay flat in front of the altar.

The man who instigated the attack tried to escape, but, one of the bodyguards chased after him, and eventually pinned him down to a wall. Despite Giovanni's pleas to spare him, the guard snapped the man's neck, killing him and then spitting on his corpse. As the guard left, Giovanni searched the man's body, and found Venetian Coins in his bag. With this, he left Milan, and returned to Florence.

Aftermath

As Rodrigo escapes the city of Florence, and successfully robbing the Medici of a powerful ally, Giovanni prepares to leave for the City of Venice, where he will begin his search for the men responsible for the death of Galeazzo Sforza
