Tense

Hello Jackdawvsaquila :),

I noticed that you have been editing the Trivia sections of various articles, and I'm not entirely sure yet whether you know our policy around tense since your edits don't seem to be very consistent about it. If you have since figured it out, that's great, but in case you didn't, we use the historical past tense for the main sections of most articles because we write them from an in-universe perspective—in other words, as though we live in the Assassin's Creed world and these things actually happened and are happening. However, when it comes to Trivia sections (functionally a "Behind the scenes" section), generally we use the literary present tense instead since we're writing about the game, its mechanics, and its peculiarities which means we are treating the series and its contents as what it is actually in real-life, a fictional game, not historical events. Hope this helps, and sorry if it was totally unnecessary. :P

While I'm at it, remember to italicize the titles of all works when you name them. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 12:02, April 20, 2017 (UTC)

Trivia edits

Hey Jack,

I appreciate your enthusiasm as a newcomer here, but I have to be honest with you, a slew of constant edits to trivia sections isn't particularly helpful to this wiki. There's a reason why some wikis ban trivia sections altogether, and that is because they can lead to lists of random facts of dubious significance being piled up, all in a disorganized fashion. While we do allow trivia here at Assassin's Creed wiki, it still stands that it'd be an issue for moot points, any that you can find, to be haphazardly added to articles. These past few days, I have had to go through every last one of them, correcting virtually every one. Sure, there are a few trivia points that I agree might be helpful, but more often than not, I've had to undo a whole lot of them.

My point is that I'd be grateful if you redirect your zeal towards edits that would benefit articles more and to be more mindful of the trivia points that you are adding, to think about whether your points really are substantial and worth noting. It doesn't help that your consistency with grammar and tense hasn't exactly improved after my first message above. I'm hesitant to prejudge that you haven't really made an effort to pay attention to that at all. If you need more advice and assistance with that, you can talk to me, but admittedly, after going through dozens of edits everyday which do not really contribute to the articles and which are loaded with errors, you are only creating more work for us to do rather than easing it. I was just thinking over this, and truth is, this wiki could benefit from new users. I suppose maybe it is wrong of me to be impatient with you given that you're new here, so pardon me for that. I would reaffirm that I don't think adding to trivia is the most valuable of edits you can be making, and it's hard for me to imagine what excuse you have for not paying closer attention to format and grammar, but all the same, if you are eager to contribute in whatever way you feel is most comfortable for you in this wiki, then I shouldn't hinder you. You are right, we should work in tandem, and I will be more patient in correcting your mistakes and guiding you to be more accustomed to the policies here.
For starters, whenever you post a message, remember to sign it at the end with four tildes: ~~~~. Are you still having trouble understanding when to use past tense and when to use present tense in your writing in the Trivia section? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 01:03, April 28, 2017 (UTC)

Jack, whenever you italicize a term with the dual apostrophes (''), the ending apostrophes goes immediately after the term without any spaces and before any punctuation. e.g. ''Assassin's Creed'' not ''Assassin's Creed, '' as I keep seeing or ''Assassin's Creed ''. There is no exception to this even if the result might appear the same. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 08:28, June 2, 2017 (UTC)

Also, when you're italicizing a linked name, all you have to do is to put the apostrophes around the linking brackets. For example: ''[[Assassin's Creed]]'' for Assassin's Creed. I keep seeing you type [[Assassin's Creed|''Assassin's Creed'']] instead which while yielding the same result, is sloppy and incorrect formatting. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 12:34, June 29, 2017 (UTC)

Jack, can you please be mindful of your tense usage? I have had to correct it on every last edit you have ever done, and it seems to me like you're not making any effort to use proper tense at all. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 10:38, July 9, 2017 (UTC)
