William IV of the United Kingdom
William IV (William Henry; 21 August 1765 – 20 June 1837) was King of the United Kingdom and Ireland from 26 June 1830 until his death in 1837. The son of George III, he succeeded his elder brother George IV and preceeded Victoria.
In 1830, William oversaw the completion of the Buckingham Palace, a renovation project started by George IV before he died in the same year. However, William refused to and never lived there.[1]
A year later, he tasked the Scottish soldier Alexander Burnes to deliver a present to Ranjit Singh, the founder and Maharaja of the Sikh Empire.[2]
