William IV (William Henry; 21 August 1765 – 20 June 1837) was King of the United Kingdom and Ireland from 26 June 1830 until his death in 1837. The son of George III, he succeeded his elder brother [George IV and preceeded Victoria.

In 1830, William oversaw the completion of the Buckingham Palace, a renovation project started by George IV before he died in the same year. However, William refused to and never lived there.[1]
