The Virtual Training Room missions are missions that take place in the new addition to the Animus interface, the Animus Virtual Training Program. Their purpose is to train Desmond Miles in the Animus, and to teach the player advanced moves to use in combat. The training room missions also allow you to compete online, by comparing scores on the Leaderboards. The surroundings are the background of the Animus interface.
Flawless Hidden Blade: This challenge involves taking out as many enemies as possible with the hidden blade without being hit. Unlike Flawless All Weapons, its not recommended to go for as much counters, considering that the precise timing can be a major issue.
Flawless All Weapons: Same as the hidden blade, but all weapons are useable. It is adviced to use counters and then directly head into as much killstreaks as possible.
Short Kill Streak: This challenge involves performing as many execution streaks in 45 seconds; wherein the score is the product of the number of enemies killed, multiplied by the longest streak achieved.
Medium Kill Streak: Same as Short Kill Streak, but with a 1:20 time limit.
Long Kill Streak: Same as the Short Kill Streak, but with a 2:00 time limit.
Completing all the training challenges with a Bronze medal or higher will unlock the Raiden Skin for Ezio. This may be referring to the fact that Raiden was mostly trained in VR missions, as stated in Metal Gear Solid 2.
Within the training missions, Ezio is not affected by armor or weapon customizations, and is always wearing the default Assassin White robes, with a set of the Seusenhofer armor; although he is affected by outfit customizations. He will always be equipped with the Common Sword, stilleto, double hidden blades, the standard Codex additions to the hidden blade, and the crossbow.
Earning 3 gold medals will reward the player the "Perfectionist" achievement/trophy, which also unlocks 20 Uplay Units.
Rebecca Crane tells Desmond that as he completes challenges, she will add new ones, however, she never does this at any time in the game.
In trailers of Brotherhood, it is shown that the game previously contained a chasing VR mission, as Ezio is seen running in a crowd of civilians, chasing his golden target while in Eagle Vision. It is not explained why this was cut from the game.
