The old city in Turin

Turin is a town in Lewis County in the state of New York in the United States. Turin is the site of a former large First Civilization city, and the location of the Grand Temple.

History

The region now known as Turin was home to one of the First Civilization's most influential cities, constructed some time before 75000 BCE. In the middle of the city was the Grand Temple, an underground complex that functioned as some sort of laboratory. After the human rebellion ignited, the Grand Temple was used by Jupiter, Minerva and Juno to find a countermeasure against an imminent solar flare.[1] Near the end of their research, Minerva discovered Juno's lust for power and evil intentions for the planet, and had Juno confined to the Grand Temple.[2]

The trio failed to develop a working solution, and the solar flare struck in 75010 BCE. Turin was completely destroyed, though the undergound temple remained largerly intact and functional. As the Earth's land changed over the millenia, the remains of the Grand Temple became mostly covered with earth, save for its main entrance.[2]

During the mid-18th century, the Kanien'kehá:ka tribe at Kanatahséton, an area close to Turin, took it upon themselves to protect their 'holy' land from invaders. After having communicated with Juno via the tribe's Crystal Ball, the Kanien'kehá:ka Ratonhnhaké:ton was given the task of joining the Assassin Order to prevent the Templars from entering the Grand Temple. Secretly, Juno's intentions were to have Ratonhnhaké:ton obtain the Grand Temple Key from the Templars, and bury it where his descendant Desmond Miles could find it.[2]
