The Illustrated Police News, also known as The Illustrated Police Bulletin, was a 19th century British newspaper and one of the earliest tabloids, focusing their journalistic work on crimes and scandals. Throughout 1868, the newspaper's headlines covered events such as Sir David Brewster's mysterious death in an explosion near Croydon, a gang war at Whitechapel, the explosion of a Starrick Brewing Company distillery at Southwark, the destruction of Attaway Transport omnibuses, and the Royal Ball, attended by then-Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli.
