Solon (c. 638 – c. 558 BCE) was an Athenian statesman, lawmaker and poet remembered for his efforts to legislate against political, economic, and moral decline in Athens.
He owned a residence that was located in the northeastern part of Athens, which was visited by the Spartan misthios, Kassandra during the Peloponnesian War.[1]
Trivia
- Plato counted Solon among the Seven Sages of Greece. Others in that group were Thales of Miletus, Pittacus of Mytilene, Bias of Priene, Chilon of Sparta, and either Cleobulus, Periander of Corinth, Myson of Chenae or Anacharsis the Scythian.
