Sir Gareth's Holy Sword was a heavy weapon that once belonged to Sir Gareth, a Knight of the Round Table. At some point it came into the possession of the monks at Ferrières, a monastery along the Rhine, who bestowed it upon their protector.

History
In the 5th to 6th century; during the reign of King Arthur; Sir Lancelot gifted the Holy sword to his fellow knight of the round table Sir gareth. During his Quest to save a maiden Sir Gareth faced and killed the Black knight with this sword.
Hundreds of years later during the reign of Alfred the Great the shores and rivers around the british isles were raided by vikings. To protect themselves from the raiders a group of Monks on the river Rhine had come into possesion of the sword and gave it holy sword to their protector so that he could ward off the vikings.
During her travels, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan raided several locations along various rivers around the british isles. Due to this, several settlements around the waterways set up champions to protect them from the Viking raiders. Relayed this information by Vagn, Eivor traveled to face these champions, one of whom was stationed along the river Rhine. Sailing down the river, she landed at the Ferrières monastery and faced off against the Champion. After defeating the champion, Eivor claimed the Holy sword for herself.[2]
