Shimazu Takahisa (島津 貴久, 1514 – 1571) was a Japanese daimyō in Kagoshima,[1] as well as the 15th leader of the Shimazu clan.[2]

Takahisa was the first host of Templar Francis Xavier's Jesuit mission to Japan, welcoming the missionary and giving them permission to preach the gospel in his domains, hoping this would lead to more trade with the Portuguese. When, after a year, no Portuguese ships arrived, he prohibited Christianity and expelled Xavier.[1]
