The Shamshir

The Shamshir was a curved sword found in the 1st century BCE Egypt. Considered a predecessor to the scimitar, this blade was no less deadly.

The blade was made available to the Medjay Bayek of Siwa via an Animus modification by the Assassin Layla Hassan, who relived the former's memories.[1]

Behind the scenes

The model of the Shamshir, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins, was recycled as the model of the Sacrifice Blade, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, and its kind.

Shamshir is a Persian word that means 'sword'.

The design is based of the 19th century CE "Laz bichaq", also known as the Black Sea Yatagan, a sword used by the Laz people of the Black Sea coastal regions in present day Turkey and Georgia.
