Ruby

Revision as of 23:53, 28 March 2021 by imported>Sol Pacificus (Just noticed that you took the "considered precious above all others" wording from the Wikipedia article of "cardinal gem". That vague wording makes sense in defining "cardinal gem", but outside of that context, it's quite awkward. "Cardinal gem" is a more specific concept than "precious stone", so it is fine to use that actual term but substituting with this vague description makes it redundant with the first sentence.)

Ruby

Ruby is a precious stone of pink to blood-red color. It has traditionally been considered a cardinal gem, alongside the amethyst, sapphire, emerald, and diamond.

History

During the Reconquista, the Spanish Brotherhood of Assassins used rubies to adorn various weapons, accessories, and pieces of armor.[1]

Among the many treasures collected by the pirate Alonzo Batilla was a piece of ruby from the mines of the Spanish colonies.[2]
