Lucius Apuleius (c. 124 - c. 170 CE) was a Latin-language Berber writer with Roman citizenship. He was also a Platonist philosopher and was suspected of being a mage. He is best remembered for his novel, The Golden Ass.

During the 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from one of the several book shops in Constantinople.[1]
