Roger Despierres
Roger Despierres was a Frankish advisor to King Charles of West Francia during the 9th century.
During his reign, the king Charles heard rumours and legends of an Irish giant who was said to have built a bridge over the sea, and so tasked Despierres with investigating it. Despierres sent the philosopher Scotus a letter in order to ascertain the validity of the myths.[1]
