Project Legacy was an initiative of Abstergo Industries, which was used to analyze the genetic memories of several notable individuals. The scheme could be likened to the company's Animus Project, though it dealt with more generic memories, while the Animus Project was designed for very specific subjects, such as those with an Assassin heritage.[1]
The project made use of the Data Dump Scanner, which was a device that allowed for a large number of Abstergo recruits to analyze the memories of several people, despite not being blood-related to them.[2] These memories were farmed from varying individuals before being placed for review, often through collaboration with the company's Lineage Discovery and Acquisition department.[1]
In 2012, the project was placed on hold indefinitely, due to the security concerns caused by Erudito.[1]
