Porta Turrionis

The Porta Turrionis was one of the gates of the Leonine Walls and a landmark located in the Italian city of Rome.
History
Built between 848 and 1455 , Porta Turrionis took its name from standing next to the tower (turrionis), built by Pope Nicholas V. When erected near barracks for the troops of horse, changed its name to Porta Cavalleggeri. In 1990 the Vatican to modify and adapt the infrastructure to vehicular traffic, moved it slightly to the side and eventually closed.
