Antwerp is a city in the Flemish region of Belgium, it is also the capital of the Antwerp Province.

History[edit | edit source]

The Antwerp bourse built in 1531,[1] served as the inspiration of the London Royal Exchange, built in 1570. Nearly ten years later, the bourse was raided by the Spanish Army after the surrender of Antwerp.[2]

In 1855, the performer Pierrette Arnaud stopped in the city during the tour of her troupe, and toured ironworks, foundries and gun smithies for equipment.[3]
