Pazzi conspiracy
The Pazzi Conspiracy was an attempt by the Pazzi Family, who was under the influence of the Templar Order, to remove the House of Medici from power in the city of Florence. Instigated by the Grand Master of the Templars, Rodrigo Borgia, the coup brought Florence into a brief period of civil war, during which the young assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze killed the Pazzi off one by one, gaining the patronage and recognition of Lorenzo de' Medici.
Following the death of Vieri de' Pazzi, Francesco de' Pazzi during the coup, and then Jacopo de' Pazzi in San Gimignano not long after, the conspiracy officially ended.
The Borgia, having no personal quarrel against the Medici, hired four Templar hitmen to kill Lorenzo.
