The Pantheon was one of Rome's oldest, and most famous Catholic churches. It was built in 31 BC by Marcus Agrippa after the Battle of Actium. It was used to commemorate the Roman gods and godesses originally, but was converted into a church by Pope Boniface IV in 609. In 1503, Pope Alexander VI and his son, Cesare Borgia, paraded through the city, escorted by Papal Guards when they were ambushed by a number of Assassins outside the church.[1]
