The Okunoin Sasayama Shrine

The Okunoin Sasayama Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Minamiawaji in Awaji, Japan. During the Sengoku period, the shrine was situated in Yura north of the Mountainside Ruins.

History

In 1585, the Kakushiba ikki member and Igan shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe arrived at the shrine and inspected the area to find the key for the Imperial Regalia, the Sword. Finding the burial spot near the shrine, she dug the spot and recovered the key. About to leave, Naoe was ambushed by a markswoman and her group of shinobi. However, Naoe managed to kill the shinobi while the woman escaped. With the key, Naoe headed to Myoshoji Temple to meet with Yasuke but kept an eye out for further ambushes.[1]
